..Like a moment in time.


This past August, I had the pleasure of photographing Mckenzie at golden hour. Her effortless grace and vibrant energy brought every shot to life. With a suitcase full of carefully chosen outfits (all thanks to Mckenzie's great styling), we were ready to explore multiple scenic spots. North West River, Labrador provided the perfect blend of breathtaking landscapes, creating an unforgettable backdrop that set the tone for the entire session.


Cloudy, Hazy Skies and a Fiery Red Sun

The evening was cloudy and slightly hazy, creating an ethereal softness to the light. Instead of the usual golden hues, the sky held a red-tinted warmth that painted the landscape with muted tones. This unusual lighting created a mood that was both soft and dramatic—perfect for capturing something a bit more unique. We started on the beach and later headed to the lake for some in water shots.

Natural poses & Earthy tones

Mckenzie is always a joy to work with. Her natural ease in front of the camera brought a sense of authenticity to each shot, making them feel candid rather than posed. She moved effortlessly across the wet sand, embodying the freedom and tranquility of the ocean breeze. Her outfit choices perfectly complemented the understated vibe of the session; the earthy tones and textured layers blended beautifully with the moody landscape. Staying true to my editing style, which emphasizes natural color, the muted tones of her outfits enhanced the organic, timeless quality of each image.

Take two

When shooting and editing any session, especially ones more creative in nature it's all about perspective. By blending two perspectives (as seen in the image below) - one of her gazing upward, eyes closed in a calm and reflective pose; and the other of her standing tall and grounded -- you can create a visual story. This double exposure shows both strength and introspection. This technique adds a touch of artistic storytelling to the image.

lOCATION TWO - THE LAKE

After the beach session, we moved to the lake for some in-water shots, expecting the water to be freezing but finding it surprisingly warm. This allowed us to take our time and capture the serene moment. As the sky turned a vivid red with a soft haze, the atmosphere created a dreamy, tranquil effect—perfect for these calm photos. The sunset's subtle light made the images feel soft and timeless, without the intensity of the sun's rays overpowering the scene.

The Results

Each shot from this session with Mckenzie captures a piece of the magic of that evening. From close-up portraits that reveal the subtle details in her expressions to wider shots that place her in the grandeur of the sunset-lit landscape, these images tell a story of connection—both to the natural world and to the moment itself.
